obnox - corrupt free enterprise

everything's been building up to this!!! OBNOX just unleashed his second proper lp, CORRUPT FREE ENTERPRISE, via 12XU RECORDS and it's a wild ride of blown out rock n roll that you definitely don't wanna miss out on...!!!!!!

after a slew of 7 inches and two 12 inch eps (one for PERMANENT and the other for 12XU), OBNOX poured everything he had into CORRUPT FREE ENTERPRISE, a double lp romp through his skewed, scuzzed up outsider punk take on rock n roll, r&b, hiphop and blues......!!!!  destroying and recreating the very soul of rock music all over again!!!!!!  which is exactly what we expect from the drummer/guitarist/noise monger extraordinaire who's played in so many monumental ohio bands over the years.....

taking cues from PUSSY GALORE, the CHEATER SLICKS, RON HOUSE's various outsider punk groups (THOMAS JEFFERSON SLAVE APTS, EGO SUMMIT, COUNTER INTUITS, etc), DIRTBOMBS, ACTION SWINGERS, FIREWORKS and THE OBLVIANS, OBNOX smashes punk, noise and rock n roll into one feedback soaked, warped grooved, rhythmic roller coaster through pop history like only he can on CORRUPT FREE ENTERPRISE!!!!  all 17 songs of the album unbridled and mind blowing as can be......

and i haven't mentioned yet OBNOX's killer covers of the CHEATER SLICKS' "ghost," TOM WAITS' "way down in the hole (aka the wire theme song)" EDDIE FLOYD's "good love / bad love" and the BASSHOLES' "swimming blues"......which succinctly triangulates where OBNOX falls musically!!!!!!   seriously no one is keeping the rowdy noise caked tradition of PUNK ROCK and ohio rock n roll debauchery alive like OBNOX is........

on top of that, CORRUPT FREE ENTERPRISE is epic enough to take on all those classic double albums.....think london calling, songs in the key of life, tago mago, bitches' brew, exile on main street, double nickels on the dime, trout mask replica......and claims a spot on that shelf for OBNOX next to those other musical touchstones.......  maybe that sounds a bit far reaching, but goddamn if CORRUPT FREE ENTERPRISE isn't a insta-classic........  i've already listening to this new lp by OBNOX more than any other album thus far this year.....or any recent year for that matter.......

so let's just say, THIS IS ANOTHER SERIOUSLY RECOMMENDED JOINT BY OBNOX.
one sure to make quite a few year end lists..... mine included!!!!!!!
