hey kids just in case you forgot to get yr fix of dirty lo-fi punk this year, DIRTNAP RECORDS has dropped a sampler of greatest hits from their 2012 releases.........it's a great place to start out if you haven't heard some of these awesome punk bands......

included are killer jams from the new MIND SPIDERS, WHITE WIRES and MEAN JEANS lps......as well as some fucking banging chainsaw punk tunes from SOMETHING FIERCE, STEVE ADAMYK and SONIC AVENUES...... as well as songs from perenial faves of TINY GROOVES, HIGH TENSION WIRES and BAD SPORTS......

2012 has flooded TINY GROOVES with so so many good releases it's been hard to feature them all..... and everyone of these bands and their new lps and singles should've made it on the blog earlier this year if they didn't........  this shit is highly recommended high volume listening pleasure.

   VIDEO makes some of the best dirty 
fun drunken punk rock around......


they throw in a little bit of psych, garage and krautrock in to mix, and in concert, these guys are a full on riot.........

my top records of 2011, i just can't recommend them enough.......

SOMETIMES I WISH I LIVED IN TEXAS, just because of the music scene....if I could see the WAX MUSEUMS, BAD SPORTS, MIND SPIDERS, HIGH TENSION WIRES and MARKED MEN every weekend I'd be a happy rock n roller kid.......

but lucky for us not there, the texas punk rockers put out enough records to keep us happy all year long......

VIDEO is the newest project in the already creatively over flowing town of DENTON.......  VIDEO is comprised of members from the BAD SPORTS and the WAX MUSEUMS, which already earns them a place in my heart.....but what makes me so stoked about their debut LP LEATHER LEATHER is how outside the normal RAMONES-influenced punk they wander........  VIDEO smashes proto-punk into a wall psychedelic noisy art punk......  fast loud driving songs that make me as happy as the first time i heard the hot snakes.....and leave all those blurry musical genre lines to the side.....all you need to know is this is the sleeper record of 2011.......

revolver writes "Denton TX's VIDEO began intending to sound like a mix between Crime, Chrome and Cream. However, the twelve songs on this debut LP end up sounding like your record collection melted into one solid album. sorry state records writes "Debut 12" from this Texas band that features members of Wax Museums and Bad Sports. While I like both of those bands a lot, this LP pretty much smokes everything those bands have ever done... this has been getting a lot of buzz and for VERY good reason. It's like these guys took the weirdo aesthetic of Wax Museums, but rather than going for straightforward, Ramones-inspired punk they went for a weird concoction of garage, hardcore, and west coast punk. The result is something like if the Adolescents were a lot more lo-fi and were even bigger weirdos than they already were... still, this isn't anything like neo-Adolescents bands who listen to way more Government Warning than actual Adolescents... this is just tough, catchy as fuck punk. An absolute fucking smasher if I've ever heard one."

OBN IIIs is ORVILLE from BAD SPORTS side project........

           the proto-punk of the MC5 and the drunken rock n roll of johnny thunders are definite influences, but you can also compare OBN IIIs to fellow TEXAS rockers marked men, john wesley coleman and high tension wires ........

OBN IIIs have started with a bang, releasing a handful of killer 7 inches this year......and are now set to unleash a new album and destroy the kids at GONER FEST.........

here's how REVOLVER describes THE ONE AND ONLY lp,  OUT SEPTEMBER 6 on TIC TAC TOTALLY RECORDS........

OBN IIIs drop a seriously heavyweight album following three killer singles/EPs. Some of the best mid-paced punk rock of the “City Slang” vibe...and one of the best live bands of recent memory...now flirting with a Sabbath-caliber weight in the sound, added snot-nosed attitude, and tighter grooves. The resulting record is an absolutely-no-bullshit, tight-yet-screaming wild, rock record full of the wicked, double-deep-fried-guitars searing in and out of ORVILLE’s way.
