WYMYNS PRYSYN - payday 7 inch (scavenger of death)

WYMYNS PRYSYN is the latest addition to the small but growing discography of ATLANTA'S SCAVENGER OF DEATH RECORDS...... WYMYNS PRYSYN fits right in with the the raucous punk scene in ATLANTA, along side such crazy blown out rock n roll bands as COPS, BLACK LIPS, CARBONAS, GG KING, RALPH, BUKKAKE BOYS and many others i'm dying to hear.......

PAYDAY starts off with bang, careening towards you at full speed with a wall of noise that very few trios can attain.  If you look at the waveform of the 7 inch, you see its almost as loud and brutal as you can be, all the sound reaching the top and bottom, like a box and less a wave....   WYMYNS PRYSYN reminds me of HOT SNAKES in a train wreck with WIPERS.  they land somewhere between straight ahead hardcore punk and noisy post punk.  PAYDAY is quite the anthem about staying drunk and asking friends for beers even if you run outta money before payday..... i know we all know the feeling.

CAT PILLS is another screamer of a track.  all the punk rock abandon you could want, bent by fuzz, whiskey drenched and bruised with hardcore.   hear they kinda remind me of THE COACHWHIPS, THE REATARDS and THE FUNCTIONAL BLACKOUTS... essentially fitting right in with the scuzzy mutant garage rock side of the punk scene...

JOHN TITORS BLUES is an instrumental jam that takes WYMYNS PRYSYN is a slightly different direction, stretching out a bit from the 4/4 speed blast of the other tracks.  you can tell these guys can play outside the narrow confines of the hardcore or punk scene if they wanted to....the b side is kinda like the SPITS covering a DRIVE LIKE JEHU song, or the OFF! covering FUGAZI...... and yeah WYMYNS PRYSYN have all that snarl and agitation of JESUS LIZARD and UNSANE.....which is why i bought this single before i even finished listening to it in the record shop.....

this 7 inch isn't enough for me, so hopefully they record a new tape as rumored.  their first release, TRES HOMBRES, a cassette out on STATUTORY TAPES is long outta print.....so let's cross our fingers for more from WYMYNS PRYSYN soon......

i strongly suggest you find yrself a copy of this record
if you've ever bought a HOZAC 7 inch.....
