last friday, chicago was treated to quite a show at the empty bottle.... france's MAGNETIX and brooklyn's X-RAY EYEBALLS..... both fresh outta the wild times at SXSW.....
MAGNETIX has a freshly released lp on SLOVENLY records entitled DROGUE ELECTRIQUE and fans of spastic mutant garage rock ought to take notice...... they mash punk, garage, sludge, surf and new wave keys into one throbbing noisy mess..... after many listens to DROGUE ELECTRIQUE i still can't wrap my head around it, but i love it even more because of it..... fans of other weirdo french rockers like FEELING OF LOVE and CHEVEU need to check out MAGNETIX now.....go buy their new lp here.... and well they were quite the openers for TINY GROOVES' fave dark garage rockers X-RAY EYEBALLS......
X-RAY EYEBALLS are touring in support of their excellent new album, SPLENDID SQUALOR.....and if you loved either of their singles or their NOT NOTHING lp from last year, you know their new songs are just as much trashy fun as before..... nobody wallops you with gothic new wave soaked garage rock quite like these guys..... lo-fi spooky rock n roll jams that always float around in my head...... make sure you catch X-RAY EYEBALLS live anytime you get the chance and go buy their new lp here......
