so before the advent of punk (and after the heyday of garage)....and whilst bands were taking hard rock to it's extremely progressive, biggest arena and ridiculous extremes, there were still bands fighting the good fight and making some unholy fucking blown out RnR racket....... and these bands, often one album and out (or one single and done), sometimes privately pressing their lps, were the true torch bearers of ROCK N ROLL, when everyone else just decided that YES and STYX were the next good thing.........
these are the bands you ought to reference and go back to.....bands more obscure than yer HAWKWIND, SABBATH and BLUE CHEER.....but ones that ought to be in the same pantheon for fucking sure.....and deservedly get a cult following AT LEAST if not more...........
THERE'S A WHOLE SLEW OF BANDS that ought to be on this list, but here is a short introduction to the RIGHTEOUS UNDERBELLY OF ROCK N ROLL CIRCA 68-75.....bands that i love and turn to every time i get the chance........
and bands of which i will further introduce to you at a later date, but this is yer chance to expand YER FUCKING MUSICAL HORIZONS, cuz good rock n roll is more than just those whose laurels rest in that stupid RnR hall of fame in cleveland..........
so here we go, a short list of BONEHEAD CRUNCHIN' HEAVY / PSYCH ROCK BANDS YOU NEED TO KNOW AND LOVE ASAP!!!!!!!

TIN HOUSE
CAPTAIN BEYOND
BAD AXE

These are great (re)discoveries, although I'm ambivalent about admitting having heard of Iron Claw ;) More tunes to help us remember the '70s, and its cool to see how many 20-somethings are into 70's-'80s music now.
another comp. to check out: To Fathom Hell or Soar Angelic
