GET BENT, the other music blog i write for, is throwing their ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY this week across the nation......starting this WEDNESDAY here in CHICAGO at the CROWN TAP with the legendary noise mongers NONES as well as awesome up-and-comers THE HECKS and STRYCHNINE......MISS ALEX WHITE of WHITE MYSTERY will be DJing between sets.......

where does HOZAC RECORDS find all these awesome new bands?????..... do they have secret talent scouts getting drunk at punk shows across the country, looking for the next cool band to sign?????  i think they must......

so let me introduce the newest band to the rowdy fun hozac roster...... PLATEAUS.....

PLATEAUS is about to release their second 7 inch on HOZAC this month....and this SAN DIEGO band is the next big thing......playful sun bathed fuzzed out garage rock..... both songs on this new single are instant classics.......  hozac continues to be on a roll with their excellent 2012 releases.......

you'll wanna pick this one up now.....  and perhaps PLATEAUS' excellent debut single from last year on ART FAG as well......  both are highly recommended......

estrogen highs - irrelevant future

ESTROGEN HIGHS just released their second album, IRRELEVANT FUTURE on TROUBLE IN MIND RECORDS and it's quite the killer lp.......chock full of stripped down angular post punk songs that borrow equally from noisy punk influences like the WIPERS or WIRE and more pop oriented bands like the CLEAN or TALL DWARFS....  almost a perfect guitar driven indie rock album...and they are few and far between these days, since indie rock has gone all wimpy on us in the last ten years or so......

you can check out ESTROGEN HIGHS at this years HOZAC BLACKOUT FEST, but if you can't make it to chicago, you'll need to grab IRRELEVANT FUTURE as soon as you can.......

THE BLACK LIPS have just released a new single, SICK OF YOU on VICE RECORDS...... the title song and the B-side Dance with You are both extra songs from last year's ARABIA MOUNTAIN recording session and both songs are fuckin' killer......

TERRY MALTS played chicago last tuesday night and it was a blast......  their new "Killing Time" lp is one of my faves so far this year...... songs like "waiting room" and "i'm neurotic" are on constant spin at tiny grooves hq...... chainsaw pop at its best.

the RAMONES are one of the best bands of all time......

king tuff - s/t lp (subpop)

KING TUFF is back with another solid lp of power popped mutant garage rock gems....and it's so good that it's doesn't need a title....and so fun, sub pop records jumped at the chance to release it...

king tuff has been kickin' around the country for the past couple of years, releasing a single here and there and playing some shows, but this is his first album since 2008's WAS DEAD, that's considered a classic to some folks like me......

we did get a lp via his other band HAPPY BIRTHDAY awhile back, but KING TUFF is quite the unique experience.......snotty bubblegum punk for the kids who like mellow trippy drugs....plenty of catchy weird songwriting and a kind of glam/psych take on garage rock that'll suck you right in......

so very highly recommended.....
