awesome snotty power pop laced punk rock from vancouver, NEEDLES//PINS start where white wires, gentleman jesse, young governor and others leave off......taking it up a notch, they write classic songs like the best of the power pop pioneers --THE SHOES, 20/20, THE SPEEDIES, DWIGHT TWILLEY, THE NERVES and ELVIS COSTELLO......  NEEDLES//PINS pack the riotous punk energy of BUZZCOCKS and the RAMONES with all the epic hooks as the CARS and the ROMANTICS....... for someone who loves jams catchy as fuck, NEEDLES//PINS are just what you needed..........  and the 12:34 lp will make the coldest, loneliest and most boring of days fun and crazy again......... "shaker" and "i dont mind" are sure to be stuck in your head all day long......

very highly recommended....... especially for those bare wires, nobunny, ketamines and mean jeans fans getting jittery for their next sugar pop fix.....

blackout fest recap - ketamines

KETAMINES were a riot to hang out with and watch all weekend long, they played an in-store at PERMANENT RECORDS on friday and a set at BLACKOUT FEST saturday.....both performances were incredible psych tinged garage punk affairs...... and if you haven't checked out their new lp SPACED OUT on MAMMOTH CAVE // SOUTHPAW RECORDS, yr missing out......


KETAMINES are super recommended and their new album is sure to make my year end best of list.......

ketamines - spaced out lp

KETAMINES rose from the ashes of a couple of awesome under the radar punk bands, THE MYELIN SHEATHS and ENDANGERED APE.....and are perhaps CALGARY's if not all of canada's best new band...... HOZAC records released their debut 7 inch awhile ago and that portended good things... i mean it was quite the killer fuzz pop single..... but now finally we get to have a full length from KETAMINES......

their SPACED OUT lp, co released by SOUTHPAW and MAMMOTH CAVE records is chock full of acid tinged bubble gummed jangled up garage rockers..... not many bands can write songs this insanely catchy and weird at the same time..... KETAMINES play a super melodic and fuzzed out blend of garage punk thats so far left of the formula the other bands are playing i just wanna call it something else.... maybe sun burnt twee psych post punked garage......  hum, i dunno know, but you need to listen to the KETAMINES right now.......

recommended if you like the oh sees, the hussy, outer minds and dead ghosts....
