TROUBLE IN MIND is doing us all a great service by releasing a best of THE RESONARS, whose back catalog is almost all out of print and way difficult to track down.......and understandably so, cuz nobody writes such catchy psych tinged, power popped garage rock tunes like THE RESONARS do....... finally everyone can check out this killer tuscon, arizona band, as they should've long ago!!!!!!!!   

matt rendon has been soldiering on with a rotating cast of backing members, composing smash hit after smash hit, in relative obscurity as the RESONARS for over 15 years... (starting with a s/t debut album for STAR TIME in '98)... mixing a potent elixir of jangle pop, syrupy power chord melodies, psychedelic 60s rock and hazy AM pop, the RESONARS play some seriously earworming RnR that'll stick with you all day long.......  fans of BIG STAR, THE HOLLIES, THE DENTISTS, THE SHOES, THE CLEAN, THE BEACH BOYS and THE BYRDS (IE GREAT FUCKING POP MUSIC) need to hear the RESONARS now......

all the resonars albums are highly recommended, but if yer gonna start somewhere grab THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE RESONARS, and get ready to flip it over and over again.......

TROUBLE IN MIND is just about to release what is THE MUST OWN REISSUE OF THE YEAR, the 1985 lp from england's THE DENTISTS, entitled "SOME PEOPLE ARE ON THE PITCH THEY THINK IT'S ALL OVER NOW IT IS"!!!!!!!!  a lost classic of the jangly garage medway scene of the early 80s, THE DENTIST's debut album is an absolute classic, lost to time no longer......an appropriately killer lp from trouble in mind's 50th release!!!!!!!

drawing on influences like the BYRDS, LOVE, CHOCOLATE WATCH BAND and the ZOMBIES, the DENTISTS seamlessly distill 60s garage, psychedelic pop and 80s post punk into one concentrated dose of jangly, infectious rock n roll...... (arguably creating the brit pop sound.....yes really!!!)  and though a little less rough around the edges than THE MILKSHAKES and THE PRISONERS, THE DENTISTS along with those bands created a template for what has become the modern garage sound, and with it, an endless chain of young bands imitating their every move whether they realize it or not.......

so needless to say if your a fan of garage or psych or rock n roll and not dead, yer gonna need this reissue from THE DENTISTS....... this one's gonna stick to yer turntable like superglue!!!

outside world - seaside nowhere

outta the ashes of BRAIN IDEA has risen the newest must hear band from the chicago scene, OUTSIDE WORLD..... who play a scuzzed-up jangle-popped indie rock that'll get you humming almost instantaneously...... NIGHT PEOPLE has just released OUTSIDE WORLD's second tape, SEASIDE NOWHERE, and man oh man does yr boombox need this ep now......

i haven't heard a noisy infectious indie rock killers like this in quite some time..... indebted to kiwi pop, 80s college jangle and 90s slacker rock, this tape just won't leave my stereo..... and i expect nothing but good things from OUTSIDE WORLD down the road....so totally crossing my fingers for a proper debut long player sometime this year.....

if you could take husker du, the clean, sebadoh, pavement, soft boys, gbv, the bats and superchunk and smash them into one band, you'd get OUTSIDE WORLD.......  fuzzed up basement indie rock jams like the old days before the arcade fire's of the world made "indie" go mainstream, soundtrack car commercials and bore you to death..... (sorry but that's my feeling about most indie rock bands these days.....)

recommended for those into fresh and onlys, boomgates, woods, the bitters, heavy times, kurt vile, sic alps, the mantles and radar eyes......ie, anyone who needs a dose of unbridled lo-fi anthemic rock n roll in their lives....

WOOLLEN KITS effortless concoct a blend of noisy lo-fi jangle pop that's both sugary sweet and rough around the edges in just the right proportion.   indie rock hasn't sounded this exciting since the mid 80s, when there were no rules.....  think THE CLEAN, MODERN LOVERS and BEAT HAPPENING all on one mixtape and you'll get what WOOLLEN KITS are aiming for on their new lp FOUR GIRLS....and you gotta love a band that boils rock music down to its core, both sonically and lyrically.  i mean aren't most songs about girls?  and FOUR GIRLS gives us, guess what, four anthemic songs about GIRLS.....what could be better......?

especially when its through the lens of their rollicking frenzied indie rock that's part K Records shamble, part noisy jangle of FLYING NUN's kiwi pop and a whole lotta garage beat...  Woollen Kits keep the spirit of guitar rock alive, outta the dusty dollar bins of neglected records stores and back into the spotlight.......  the kids need earnest catchy noisy rock n roll songs like this....... after all it's not like we can still go to a TELEVISION PERSONALITIES, VASELINES or HALO BENDERS show every time we need a fix like this.........
